Terms of Use

Last updated: 6 September 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the ECDC Symposium Platform (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

2. Who may use the platform

The Platform is intended for:

  • Delegates: registered participants of the 2026 Eastern Cape Export Symposium & Exhibition.
  • Investors: organisations with a mandated investment interest who have been issued investor credentials by ECDC.
  • Government officials: authorised provincial and national government representatives.
  • Administrators: ECDC staff with explicit platform administration rights.

Delegate accounts may be self-registered. All other roles are assigned by ECDC administrators. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account.

3. Account responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
  • You must not share your account with any other person.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering.
  • You must notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised access to your account.
  • ECDC may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

4. Commitment data — accuracy obligation

Government officials and administrators who log commitment data onto the Platform have a specific obligation of accuracy. The commitment ledger is used to generate official accountability reports that inform government policy and investment decisions.

  • All entries must accurately reflect the commitment as made at the Symposium.
  • Progress updates must be evidence-backed where marked as such.
  • Fraudulent or misleading entries may constitute a breach of public office obligations.
  • All entries are audit-logged and immutable — they cannot be edited or deleted.

5. Delegate directory and meetings

  • Your profile is only visible in the delegate directory during the official directory window set by ECDC.
  • Meeting requests must be made in good faith for legitimate Symposium networking purposes.
  • Contact details exchanged through the platform may not be used for unsolicited commercial communications.
  • Meeting cancellations must be made with reasonable notice. Repeated no-shows may result in scheduling privileges being revoked.

6. Investor matchmaking

Match scores and AI-generated match notes on the Platform are indicative only and do not constitute investment advice, financial advice, or a guarantee of funding. ECDC makes no warranty as to the suitability of any investor-project match. All investment decisions must be made through proper due diligence processes.

7. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Attempt to access data or portals for which you are not authorised.
  • Attempt to circumvent row-level security, rate limits, or authentication mechanisms.
  • Submit false commitment entries or fabricate evidence.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Platform.
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
  • Impersonate another person or organisation.

8. Intellectual property

The ECDC name, EC Export Symposium logo, and all associated marks are the property of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation. The platform software is proprietary. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the Platform without written permission. Commitment accountability data published for public transparency purposes may be reproduced with attribution to ECDC.

9. Limitation of liability

The Platform is provided on an “as is” basis. ECDC and Mirembe Muse (Pty) Ltd make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or availability of the Platform. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither ECDC nor Mirembe Muse shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court, unless otherwise agreed in writing by both parties.
